TEP Admission

In planning a student’s academic career the College of Education uses state approved program checklists in addition to The University of Alabama Catalog (a student's catalog is especially useful for general University information). Each individual area in education has a program of specific course listings designed for that particular area. The course listings have been approved by the Alabama State Department of Education and are required for graduation and state teacher certification. Each student receives an advising sheet (i.e. checklist) with course listings for his/her program area of study. The advising sheets include the University core courses so therefore, the core requirements are automatically met when following the appropriate advising sheet.

IMPORTANT!! Students seeking recommendation for teacher certification programs must complete the following prior to graduation:

Pre-Teacher Education Program – This designation is for all students admitted to the College of Education. Students must complete required courses and hours before being eligible for the next stage. Transfer students should have their transcripts evaluated prior to the pre registration period.
